The Romanian Justice has ordered that the former boxer and ‘streamer’ Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate remain in pretrial detention for a period of 30 daysafter being arrested for his alleged participation in a criminal organization dedicated to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
However, the Tates can appeal the judicial decision, adopted by a court in Bucharest, within 48 hours, according to the Romanian newspaper ‘Libertatea’, quoted by the Europa Press agency.
The Romanian Police detained the Tate brothers during the early hours of Thursday to Friday. The Prosecutor’s Office accuses them of having formed an organized criminal group with which they recruited and forced women to create pornographic content for its subsequent distribution, according to ‘Romania TV’.
Through these activities, Andrew and Tristan would have obtained significant sums of money with which they would have bought houses, luxury cars and they would have also invested in cryptocurrencies.
This is how Tate led to his own arrest
The arrest of the Tate brothers took place after the former boxer post a video on social media in which he responded to a mockery of the young environmentalist Greta Thunberg and in which mistakenly revealed that he was in Romaniabecause in it he appeared eating pizza from a popular Romanian chain.
The appearance of the pizza box in the video made it clear that Tate was on Romanian territory, which allowed the country’s authorities to speed up the case and finally breaking into the place where the well-known ‘streamer’, with an ultra-conservative ideology and climate change denier, was staying.
Arrested after trying to mock Greta Thunberg
Tate published the video that led to his own arrest after trying to mock the Swedish activist, to whom he addressed a message on Twitter bragging about owning 33 cars and their emissions contaminants.
A message to which the environmental activist replied: “Yes, please enlighten me. Send me an email at energíadepenepequeño@comprateunavida.com”. It was while trying to taunt Thunberg in response to her message that Tate gave up his whereabouts and led the authorities to him.
The environmentalist, for her part, reacted ironically after learning of Tate’s arrest: “This is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes,” he wrote on Twitter.
