China will lift the quarantine requirement to enter the country in an attempt to return to normality, starting on January the 8th.

Many people think twice before traveling to China, given its recent rise in covid-19 cases. In turn, many countries require a negative test from travelers coming from Asian countries.

On December 7, China lifted the obligation for infected people or close contacts to remain in quarantine centers. Now, it will only require a negative test done in the last 48 hours.

They have decided to relax the anti-covid measures because the drastic decisions taken by the Chinese government caused the country’s economy to plummet.

This decision has now been taken taking into account that next January 22 is the Chinese New Year and they want people not to be afraid to travel to the country.

The problem is that in recent weeks covid-19 cases have skyrocketed; in the past 28 days, 815,995 cases and 787 related deaths have been reported. In response to this, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wang Wenbin He wants to convey a message of calm: “At the moment, the development of the epidemiological situation in China is as expected and is under control.” In addition, the Chinese National Health Commission announced that it will stop publishing daily coronavirus cases.

In turn, Wenbin wants to clarify that the case of China is the same as that of many other countries and that some Western media deliberately “exaggerate or even distort” China’s adjustment in the epidemic prevention and control policy. . He added that, from a global perspective, China is the country that, during the pandemic years, has had the lowest rate of seriously ill and dead.

Even so, other countries like Italy, Japan or Malaysia They have already begun to require covid-19 tests from Chinese citizens who want to enter them.

Italy, despite having been the country with the most positive cases at the beginning of the pandemic, has taken this measure because, in some airports, almost half of them Chinese travelers have tested positive.
