With the increasing pressure on Elon Musk For him to resign from Twitter, the focus is now on who might take over if the mogul decided to leave. Musk asked his 122 million followers on Twitter if he should step down and vowed to follow through on whatever they decided in a poll. Of the 17.5 million who voted, some 10 million said he should resign.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

He insisted that he does not yet have a new chief executive in mind, but there are some potential candidates whose names are repeatedly suggested.
Here are some characters that could replace Musk.
The Silicon Valley ‘Fix It’ team: Jason Calacanis, David Sacks and Sriram Krishnan, who helped Musk when he bought Twitter
Among the most serious contenders is Jason Calacanis, considered one of Musk’s closest friends and allies. After taking over Twitter in November and firing most of its existing leaders, Musk brought in his own inner circle, and Calacanis was among them.
He’s also previously expressed interest in the job, telling Musk in a text exchange: ‘Get me coach! CEO of Twitter is my dream job.’ But while Calacanis is confident he could take Musk’s place, his Twitter followers take a different view.
In a recent poll asking who should take over as Twitter CEO in Musk’s absence, only eight percent voted for Calacanis.
Who should be the next Twitter CEO? 😂😂😂

They were more excited about the prospect of me sharing the job with david sacks, a member of the ‘PayPal mob’, whose professional relationship with Musk goes back decades. Saks denied having an official role on Twitter during Musk’s initial inauguration, but admitted that he was involved, tweeting, “I don’t have an official role.” I’m not in charge of anything.
Another key member of Musk’s ‘fix it’ team is sriram krishnanan angel investor and technology guru who previously led engineering teams at Yahoo.
Alex Spiro: Musk’s trusted lawyer
Spiro has worked with Musk since 2019, when he represented the eccentric billionaire in a messy defamation trial against Vernon Unsworth. Musk emerged victorious in that case: Unsworth had sued him for $190 million, claiming the comment had a disastrous effect on his life.
Omead Afshar, the man who went from Tesla to SpaceX
Ashfar is a strong contender given his history with Musk and his companies. He was working in the ‘office of the CEO’, under Musk, until earlier this year, when he was suddenly transferred to SpaceX to work as vice president.
Tesla’s Tom Zhu
Musk brought Zhu from China, where he had served as Tesla’s chairman, to the US earlier this year. China had routinely outperformed Tesla’s operating factories in the US, for which analysts gave Zhu credit.
He is a proponent of the “hardcore” work ethic that Musk favors.
Sheryl Sandberg: Veteran Facebook COO who resigned from Meta in June
Sandberg is another of the more serious names floating around to replace Musk.
She was widely credited for implementing the lucrative ad structure that remains at Facebook, where she endured multiple scandals before resigning earlier this year.
Sarah Friar, former CFO of Square with ties to Slack, Nextdoor and Walmart
Friar has an impressive tech resume, and she also has financial experience, having held senior positions at Square. She sits on several boards, including those of Nextdoor, Slack, and even Walmart. (YO)
