The bombs keep falling on Ukraine while a volunteer tries to make a group of Ukrainian children who have lost everything smile. It’s his first Christmas in war. “They don’t smile, their childhood has been taken away from them,” says one of the animators. The plays, the costumes and the balls make them forget, for a moment, about the bombs. “They lost their family and loved ones, they just want peace,” confesses one of the volunteers.
But not even Christmas is spared from the bombings. The impact of projectiles on Kherson has killed at least eight people this Saturday. President Zelensky has already condemned the attack. “The holidays are approaching, the Russian terrorists are going to act again,” she has assured on screen. While the Ukrainian leader talks about the continuity of the attacks, Russia focuses part of its efforts on demolishing the remains of the Mariupol theater. Ukraine believes that they do it to cover up the traces of their crimes.
At the same time, the Russians work in production of weapons, because – according to British intelligence – its stock would be coming to an end. Putin recently visited a weapons production plant and inspected the missile launchers and armored vehicles with which Russian troops will continue to sow terror in Ukraine. And that is ten months after the start of the war.
