FIFA rejected a video that Ukrainian President Zelenski sent a message of peace for the Qatar 2022 World Cup

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyspread today through his Instagram account the message he intended to convey before the World Cup final in Qatar, but which was rejected by FIFA on the grounds that it violated political neutrality.

“This World Cup once again demonstrates that the differences between peoples and countries must be decided in a fair game, not in a game with fire,” says the Ukrainian leader in his message, collected on the Ukrinform portal.

“When it is the players who compete, we all enjoy peace,” Zelenski continues in his message.

In his speech, the president asked for support to restore peace in his country and, facing the fans, he said “Let’s see the Cup final together. And let’s see the end of the war together.”

Sources from the Ukrainian presidency reported that Zelensky had asked FIFA to send a video message before the World Cup final, which will be played this Sunday between Argentina and France.

However, FIFA rejected this request, it is recalled in the note posted in Ukrinform. (YO)
