The president of Russia, for his part, has assured in an interview that he is prepared to negotiate with Ukraine, but this country and its Western allies refuse.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has sent a Christmas message of hope in “difficult circumstances” due to the Russian invasion, a situation in which he has called for “courage and bravery”. “We will return freedom to all Ukrainian men and women“, he assured, because “no kamikaze plane is capable of turning off the Christmas aurora”.

“We will see its glow even underground in a bomb shelter. We will fill our hearts with warmth and light,” he said.

The president has made reference to “scheduled or emergency blackouts”, and has added that “we will never feel a lack of courage and indomitability”. For this reason, he has called to celebrate Christmas “singing Christmas carols with more force than the sound of a generator.”

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putinhas shown itself prepared to negotiate with Ukraine, but has added that both kyiv and its Western allies refuse to do so.

We are ready to negotiate with everyone involved on acceptable solutionsbut it is in your hand. We are not the ones who are refusing to negotiate, but they are,” Putin said in an interview on Russian state television.

Putin has defended that “we are acting in the right direction”, since Russia has “no other option” than to “protect” its citizens.
