As Iran and the international community continue to be shocked by the execution of wrestler Majid Reza Rahnavard for fighting for women’s rights, now it is Iranian footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani who will face trial where he could face the death penalty for the same cause.
The soccer player participated in protests in favor of women’s rights where three security agents lost their lives and now he faces justice, but his outcome could be fatal, EFE published.

Iranian footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani could also be sentenced to death
The Iranian regime captured Nasr-Azadani after she protested for women’s freedoms and rights last November, Asadollah Yafari, chief justice of the Isfahan province, said.
Jafarí stated that Amir Reza Nasr-Azadani was sentenced for “moharebeh” or “enmity with God” after participating in the murder of three security agents on November 16 in the city of Isfahan.
The president of the Supreme Court assured that there are nine accused of those murders and clarified that the corresponding sentences have not yet been handed down.
“Azadani openly confessed to his criminal actions. There is also a video from local cameras and there is sufficient documentation that this person is a member of an armed group, and the accusation has been issued based on these documents,” added Yafarí.
In this way, it is very likely that the athlete will be found guilty of breaking Iranian laws and sentenced to death, just as they did with the wrestler Majid Reza Rahnavard.

On the other hand, the International Federation of Associations of Professional Soccer Players (FIFPRO) and the international community ask that the threat of death penalty with which Nasr-Azadani could be punished be lifted “immediately”. (YO)
