“It was my first visit abroad after February 24, I went to see the key ally of our State, the United States. It was a fruitful visit”he pointed out in a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors in kyiv, in statements quoted by the Interfax agency.

If another trip has the potential to have the same content “significant, important and strategic” than the visit to Washington, Zelenski said that he does not rule out that there is another “exception” to the widespread wartime practice of staying in the country.

However, for this it is necessary that this trip brings with it “decisive steps to accelerate victory” against Russia on the battlefield and that another ally is willing to step forward in implementing the Ukrainian peace formula, he declared.

The European Union (EU) invited Zelenski on Wednesday to participate in person in a summit between Ukraine and the presidencies of the Council and the European Commission, which will take place on February 3.

Coinciding with the visit of the Ukrainian president to Washington, the Government of President Joe Biden announced its decision to supply Patriot defensive systems that Ukraine had been demanding for months.
