This change – as the Prime Minister said – will cost the state budget PLN 2 billion. – We all know it perfectly well, and after the pandemic it was understood by the inhabitants of all over Poland that the Polish countryside is a guarantor of food security for each of us – said the Prime Minister after the government meeting.

Morawiecki on gas price caps: This is less money for Russia’s war machine

. Everything indicates that four months of negotiations have ended. The limit is to be EUR 180 per megawatt hour. This means that the market correction mechanism will be triggered if it exceeds €180 per megawatt hour for three days. It is to cover all European hubs.

‘Since the beginning of the war, Poland loudly demanded maximum prices to protect Poles and reduce the stream of money flowing to Russia to a minimum,’ said the Prime Minister. During Tuesday’s press conference, he pointed out that “just two weeks ago, figures such as €220 and €275 were circulating” per megawatt hour. The Prime Minister also praised the head of climate and environment Anna Moskva for “tough negotiations”.

– In the European Union, nothing can be done without a coalition. Those who believe that just banging your fist on the table without building a coalition is able to achieve our goals do not fully know how the EU works, stressed Morawiecki.

The Prime Minister explained that the cap on gas prices would translate into, among others, for “less money feeding Russia’s war machine” and “alleviating the Putin-induced gas crisis.”
