A minor died this past dawn after being run over by a hit-and-run driver in the city of Montpelier after the World Cup semifinal between France and Morocco, according to sources from the French Government.
The 14-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital after being hit by a car, and died shortly after being treated, according to a statement from the French Hérault prefecture.
The events reportedly took place when a group of people, presumably followers of the Morocco soccer team, were walking down the street and snatched the French flag that was hanging from the window of a vehicle. After that, the car has started a flight and has run over several people, including the minor, according to a video broadcast on social networks.
According to the Hérault prefecture, the vehicle was found near the scene of the accident and turned over to the police. In this sense, the French Police have launched an investigation into what happened.
Likewise, the French Police Prefecture has reported the arrest of 115 people in the Paris region, including 101 in Paris, after France’s victory.
Several rallies have taken place on Wednesday night in the French capital after the end of the match between France and Morocco, particularly on the Champs-Élysées, where there have been more incidents, police sources have reported to BFMTV.
