Global real GDP will grow by 3.3% in 2022, 2.4 percentage points less than in 2021 (5.7%), estimated a report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on Monday.
In its new Statistics Yearbook, the UN agency also predicts a sharp slowdown in exports of manufactured products this year (from growth of 26.5% in 2021 to 13.8% in 2022) and to a lesser extent also in services. (from 17.2% to 14.6%).
Last year the volume of exports of services stood at US$ 6.1 trillion, a figure that despite the strong growth compared to 2020 still remains below the levels of 2019 (6.3 trillion), indicated UNCTAD statistics.
The report indicates that there have already been strong increases in the prices of basic products such as food and energy in 2021, of up to 55%, a trend that continued in 2022 until reaching the highest levels in almost three decades in August.
