The US visa will change Lincoln to a new image printed on his foil

An image of the San Francisco suspension bridge will grace the bottom of new visas issued by consular authorities in USA. According to the Customs and Border Protection Office, some embassies and consulates have already begun issuing immigration documents with the new design.

The new image will come to replace the Abraham Lincoln design, which since 2002 identified the US visa in foreign passports. Twenty years later, the iconic sheet will change its appearance.

However, travelers who have their Lincoln visa need not worry. These documents will be valid until their expiration date, unless it is revoked or canceled by the migration authorities.

According to the statement issued by the Carrier Liason Program, “as each US consular office exhausts its stock of Lincoln visas, consular officers will begin issuing the so-called ‘bridge visa’ in passports.”

The design change does not affect the application process for US visa candidates in any way. Applicants who are waiting for their document should follow the steps indicated in their application as normal.
