Strike at Lufthansa affects 130,000 passengers in Frankfurt and Munich

The ground staff strike of the German airline group Lufthansa today altered the plans of some 130,000 passengers, affected by the cancellation of their flights at Frankfurt and Munich airports.

According to company sources, some 1,100 flights have been cancelled, practically all of those planned by the airline at these two large airports.

The influx of passengers to its terminals was minimal, since Lufhansa had previously warned those affected of the cancellation of their flights, in addition to recommending that they not go to the airports, but rather try to resolve their case through the web or telephone services.

Along with the possibility of relocating your flight in the coming days, the company offers travelers the same rail routes for flights within Germany.

Lufthansa had reported on Saturday the cancellation of more than 700 flights in Frankfurtthe airport with the highest volume of passengers in Germany. Added to this are another 350 from Munich, the second major axis for the company’s international connections to the rest of Europe or other destinations.

The strike was called by the Verdi service sector union for the 20,000 employees that make up the ground staff of Lufthansa in Germany.

The union demands for this sector a salary increase of 9.5% or an increase of at least 350 euros per month. The last offer of lutfthansa It stands at 5.5%, according to union sources, who consider it well below the accumulated inflation since the last agreement.
