Izvestia: Apple service centers warned of a shortage of spare parts for the iPhone

Apple authorized service centers (ASCs) warned that Russia lacks spare parts for the iPhone needed to repair gadgets. On Wednesday, June 22, Izvestia writes.

As told in the ASC, first of all, there is a shortage of screens and batteries. So, NB Service said that now there are no batteries for last year’s flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the replacement period can average from three to five business days, including delivery. The representative of the company explained that earlier it was possible to replace the battery on the day of the request, but now the process has become noticeably more complicated, since the logistics have been disrupted.

The Re:Store service center told the publication that the batteries were out of stock. For repairs, you will need to leave the iPhone and wait five to seven business days, but this period is not final. Mobile Research Group analyst Eldar Murtazin confirmed that now service centers often refuse to repair because screens for certain models, as well as other components, have run out.

Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov also pointed out the problem. According to him, it is very difficult to service the iPhone now, since the components for them have really run out and users have to wait a very long time to replace the part. He believes that the problem will persist for the next two months.

At the same time, the iPhone 13 imported by parallel imports has already begun to be sold in Russia, however, as Apple technical support said, the vendor’s warranty does not apply to these gadgets. Efim Kazantsev, a member of the commission on legal support of the digital economy of the Moscow branch of the Russian Bar Association, confirmed that foreign manufacturers can indeed refuse to accept claims for goods imported into the country without their permission, but this does not relieve Russian retailers of obligations to consumers. Therefore, the consumer can demand a replacement of the goods or a refund of the amount paid. Representatives of retailers assured the publication that they fulfill all warranty obligations in full.

Earlier it was reported that the popular Apple smartphone, released in 2020, fell in record price. As follows from the media catalog, the cost of a premium iPhone 12 Pro with a 128 gigabyte drive has dropped to 80 thousand rubles. At the start of sales, the device was valued at least 100 thousand rubles. Immediately after the announcement of the new iPhone 13 line, Apple announced that it was ending production of the iPhone 12 Pro model, which means that stores are now selling off leftovers that may soon end, ”the authors explained the reduction in price.
