Several years ago, the Polish market swept away the competition. Even a global giant like eBay has failed to survive the competition. In 2008, the portal closed down the office in Poland and treated our market neglectfully. Allegro’s power may also be testified to by the fact that
eBay returns to Poland. “It will be a new opening for us”
announced that it is starting a new opening on the Polish market.
There are over 22 million buyers in Poland, the availability of the Internet is about 92%, and the pandemic period increased the percentage of people buying online. Our platform has been in Poland for several years, but now it will be a new opening for us and just the first development step on this market
– announced in a press release, Paolo Levoni, Senior Director EU Cross Border Trade,
The company wants to encourage buyers by translating offers.
Translating the offers into Polish was a big challenge for us. Much has been done in this field, but there is certainly a lot more to do in this matter. Changing the language also implies other things. Poles will now have access in their own language to the portfolio of large retailers, incl. from Spain, Germany, France or Great Britain, which will also facilitate logistics issues for customers
Levoni said.
More information from the country
The development of eBay in Poland is to be gradual. It will be crucial to analyze the behavior and preferences of local audiences, based on which eBay will make changes. The company focuses on the development of mobile functionality, because – as their analysis shows – Poles mostly buy this way. If necessary, eBay plans to establish cooperation with logistics operators, expand payment options with new systems or enrich loyalty programs. In addition, the company informed that it is in constant contact with sellers to whom it recommends appropriate solutions.
Our goal is to become one of the favorite shopping platforms of Poles in the coming years. We aim at TOP3 of the largest e-commerce platforms in Poland
Paolo Levoni said.
eBay is also launching a promotional campaign, mainly on the Internet.
Allegro is losing on the stock exchange
Allegro is also a global giant. The company, however, has something to tremble about, because the first two places were taken respectively by eBay.
Investors are well aware of the power of eBay. The information about the new opening on the Polish market brought losses for Allegro. The company after 1 p.m. lost 6.81 percent. The price dropped from PLN 35.68 to PLN 32.57.
