Bloomberg says the new Apple Watch won’t get a pressure sensor
Apple has temporarily removed the blood pressure monitor and built-in glucometer from its smartwatches. It is reported by Bloomberg.
According to columnist Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch 8, which is scheduled for release in the fall, is not expected to have a blood pressure measurement function. The company is actively testing this option, but its engineers are concerned about the low accuracy of the tool. Also in this regard, the Apple Watch will not yet have a built-in glucometer.

At the same time, Gurman said that the update of Apple smart watches will be significant. One of the features may be the function of connecting to satellites, which will allow you to call emergency services without using a cellular connection. Also coming to Apple Watch 8 are advanced sleep tracking features, an option to track medication intake, and new ways to track women’s health.
watchOS 9, on which the new watch will be based, is expected to introduce a power saving mode that will increase the autonomy of the device. In 2022, the company may introduce three versions of the watch – the standard Apple Watch 8, the second generation of the affordable Apple Watch SE, and a special version of the wearable device with a more durable case.
Gurman noted that the function of measuring blood pressure may appear in smartwatches on the market in 2025, when the technology becomes a trend. Delays in the development of new features may be due to the fact that Apple’s healthcare department has about a thousand employees – the number of specialists has not increased in the past two years.
In August 2021, insiders predicted the appearance of a satellite function in the iPhone 13. Later, Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman said that the new smartphones will definitely not interact with satellites for communication.
