Television. Change of the broadcasting standard to DVB-T2 / HEVC. The first stage will start on March 28

The first stage of changing the broadcasting standard will begin in a moment, which is aimed at obtaining the possibility of receiving programs of better quality than before. As they informed, people who use terrestrial should check if their TV set or tuner allows DVB-T2 / HEVC reception. If not, it is in need of replacement.

4 stages of implementing the new broadcasting standard

In Poland, the change of the digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard is to take place in 2022, in four stages:

1. March 28 – the south-western part of the country (voivodships: Dolnośląskie)
2. April 25 – north-western part of the country (Zachodniopomorskie, Pomorskie, Wielkopolskie and Kujawsko-Pomorskie provinces)
3. May 23 – the south-eastern part of the country (provinces: Łódzkie, Świętokrzyskie, Śląskie, Opolskie, Małopolskie and Podkarpackie)
4. June 27 – the north-eastern part of the country (voivodships: Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Podlaskie, Mazowieckie and Lubelskie).

Surcharge for a TV set-top box. How do I apply?

You can apply for a benefit in several ways, by: electronic form, traditional application, the possibility of applying by a proxy – a family member or household member.

“After submitting the application, the eligible person will receive a document confirming the grant of the benefit for the purchase of a set-top box. He will be able to redeem it in one of the RTV stores that apply for participation in the program,” we read on the government website. A second type of co-financing was also introduced for the purchase of a new TV set that supports the DVB-T2 / HEVC standard. It amounts to PLN 250.
