The Samsung Galaxy A12 has become the top-selling smartphone in 2021, according to Omdia, a data analytics firm. The device sold 51.8 million units. The second position was taken by the iPhone 12 — Apple has put 41.7 million devices on the market. The third best-selling smartphone was the iPhone 13 with 34.9 million units. The top 5 also includes the iPhone 11 and Xiaomi Redmi 9A.
There are seven Apple devices in the top ten most requested Omdia phones, two from Samsung and one from Xiaomi. The cheapest device in the selection is the Xiaomi Redmi 9A, priced at $78, the most expensive is the $1,324 iPhone 13 Pro Max.
“Samsung’s first place on this list shows that A-series budget phones are quite popular,” the reporters noted. Analysts said they expect more smartphones like the Galaxy A12 as many manufacturers — Samsung in particular — are focusing on the mid-range and budget price segments.
