Attackers have learned to install viruses on the iPhone through the TestFlight service
Malware creators have learned how to bypass App Store protection and install viruses on the iPhone. This is reported by the publication ArsTechnica.
The journalists refer to a report by Sophos, whose experts have uncovered a new way to install malicious applications on Apple smartphones. Attackers have begun using TestFlight, which can be used to publish applications that have not been verified by App Store moderators. TestFlight is Apple’s proprietary service designed to test iOS programs before they are directly published in the app store.
According to the firm’s engineers, scammers can create a virus program and send a download link to thousands of victims. As part of the test function, TestFlight allows you to add up to 10,000 users to the list of application testers. Experts have discovered a dangerous virus on the network, disguised as the application of the Japanese cryptocurrency exchange BTCBOX. Once the program is installed, the malicious application can infect the user’s iPhone.

Sophos representatives also spoke about a group of CryptoRom hackers who began to use another iOS feature for their attacks. The Apple operating system allows users to save a link to any web page on their phone screen, which looks like an application icon. Fraudsters can send links to malicious sites via email.
In conclusion, the authors of the report recommended that users use caution when following links on questionable sites and from e-mail. Experts recalled that Apple-verified applications can be found in the App Store.
Earlier, Zimperium experts said that in 2021, more than 10 million mobile devices were attacked by malware. During this period, experts have discovered more than two million new strains of viral applications.
