Signs of an overabundance of digital information include decreased self-esteem and sleep problems. Doctor Julia Fokina said this in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru.

Fokina, consultant of the digital medical service Doctor Nearby, a general practitioner and cardiologist, noted that most people are addicted to the Internet and gadgets. They can also suffer from an oversupply of digital information.

“A decrease in self-esteem due to the constant involuntary comparison of oneself with bloggers and famous personalities, problems with sleep, including due to the blue glow of the screen, the development of anxiety and even depression,” she listed the symptoms of Fokin’s disease. The doctor also noted that people can gain excess weight, have problems in relationships and at work.

“Digital detox will help you cope with the above problems, which are exacerbated by an overabundance of internet and gadgets in your life. It helps a person to reduce the level of anxiety, become more productive, improve sleep, find time for exercise, ”the specialist emphasized. To do this, you need to plan a break from gadgets, track application usage times, and give preference to paper books.

Earlier, psychologist, writer and TV presenter Mikhail Khors called recognition of the problem as the first step towards getting rid of Internet addiction. He noted that the symptoms of digital addiction are anxiety and the feeling that “something is suddenly lost in life.”
