The Mobile World Congressthe meeting between leading and innovative companies in the connectivity industry, reaches the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via from February 28 to March 3. Due to the pandemic situation in which we find ourselves, the organizing association of the event, GSMA, and the Catalan authorities have resorted to security measures established in 2021 in order for the event to be held in the safest way. The conference, which is attended by global mobile operators, technology providers and device manufacturers, will occupy 5 rooms (1,4,5,6,7) of the pavilion and the Plaza del Congreso. In these spaces, exhibitors will present their ideas on the progression and future of connectivity. Attendees at MWC2022
On February 10, the representatives of the MWC, Mats Granryd (GSMA CEO) and John Hoffmann (CEO of GSMA), called a press conference in the capital to report on the main features of the event, according to the press release of the Mobile World Congress.

The promoters of the event believe that this growth is due to the fact that the Fintech trend is accelerating while allowing innovation. By ‘Internet of Everything’ they mean the next evolutionary stage of the connected world. The world is changing and technology plays an important role in this whole process, which is why they have decided to talk about the tools available to anticipate new needs. The objective of this topic is to see how mobile devices are changing the future with the innovations that are being presented. With this ‘technological horizon’ that they will talk about, they intend inspire the next generation so that they can reinvent themselves.
How to get to Fira de Barcelona Gran Via
As in 2021, the meeting will take place in the Barcelona Fair. To get here, the organizers recommend the use of public transport. Therefore, they provide a free public transport pass which covers all trips made within zone 1. In addition, they offer a trip to the airport that includes the metro, FGC (local train), bus, tram and Rodalies Renfe trains, according to the event’s official website.
The pass is available at the transport pass collection point located at the south entrance of the Fira Gran Vía and can be collected from February 26 to March 2 from 09:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on day 3 from 09:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..

subway and train
The closest metro stops to the venue are Europa Fira and Fira station. On the other hand, it is possible to take the local FGC train in Spain Square and after a journey of 7 minutes get off at the station Europe Fair.
direct bus
A Mobile World Congress bus will perform the route between Plaza España and the MWC the days the event is held. From Monday to Wednesday from 08:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m. and the Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00. This route is made between the stops of the Av. R. María de Cristina (Spain Square) and Science Street (Fira Gran Vía).
In addition, they have launched the service of official buses leaving from different accommodations of the Catalan capital. The website has created a list of routes and timetables from each hotel.

Attendees can also use a taxi to get to the pavilion. The hours of operation of the taxi stand is the following:

Covid measures at the MWC
Despite the fact that the pandemic situation seems to be better than the one we experienced when holding the meeting in 2021, the organizers and the Catalan authorities have agreed to establish the same security measures than last year to deal with the coronavirus. To do this, they have created a protocol that the assistant must comply with in order to gain access to the venue.
These are the eight steps that the visitor is obliged to complete before entering the Mobile World Congress:
- Check in on the platform and upload your photo and the image of the NIE or passport.
- load the health certificate (vaccination certificate, covid recovery certificate, antigen test or negative PCR performed 72 hours before entry).
- In case of flying, complete a Health Check Form.
- Download the mobile app MWC.
- Find a place for testingIf necessary.
- Read and accept the declaration of daily health to which the assistant commits.
- Activate the digital badge in the application once the previous steps have been carried out.
- Use FFP2 mask without valve in the whole enclosure.
