Technology companies are starting to help Ukraine. Support for non-governmental organizations

The Tech To The Rescue foundation has just launched a special support campaign. Together with over 250 IT companies and 300 non-profit organizations, since March 2020, the foundation helps in solving various problems – incl. in the cybersecurity sector, but also in public health (for example, it is about help in building a system coordinating the work of hospitals during a pandemic).

Technology companies will help defend Ukraine in cyberspace

The campaign initiated by Tech To The Rescue aims to support Ukrainian non-governmental organizations in three basic areas: cybersecurity, facilitating secure communication with donors and beneficiaries, and building information exchange systems.

The Foundation emphasizes that this is extremely important, especially now, when Ukraine is facing attacks by Russians not only from land, air and sea, but also in cyberspace. On Wednesday night, the Ukrainians repelled massive DDoS attacks on their public utilities.

It is not difficult to guess that the attacks were launched by the Russians, who probably wanted to obstruct the flow of official information that would be useful to the civilian population. We wrote more about this in the following text:

Ukrainian organizations have to adapt their structures and action plan to the requirements of the digital world. Foundations often do not have their own resources to build effective technological solutions. We need the support of professionals, because digitization is a necessity today. Without it, it is difficult to carry out aid activities and exert influence on the Ukrainian society

– said Bogdan Maslych, head of the Ukrainian foundation GURT Resource Center, which is the campaign’s partner on the Ukrainian side.

The action – as the Tech To The Rescue Foundation itself describes it – is to be a bridge between Ukrainian non-profit organizations that want to help during the war, and technology companies, e.g. from Poland, that can help with their skills and experience.

Tech To The Rescue hopes that the campaign will encourage companies that have the appropriate resources to secure Ukrainian organizations, for example in the event of cyber attacks. The response is already phenomenal, because – as she reported on the first day of the war by At 3:00 p.m., over 110 companies joined the action.
