Israeli researchers have found a hackable bug in tens of millions of Samsung smartphones. This is reported by SamMobile.
Journalists refer to a report by Tel Aviv University in Israel, according to which Samsung has launched phones with fatal vulnerabilities in the firmware. The problem described was related to a security problem and allowed attackers to steal passwords and other personal data of users.
According to experts, the vulnerability affected the devices of the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series. The earliest devices with the bug were released in 2017, the latest in 2021. Experts said that the error affected about a hundred million devices. The problem was related to the incorrect storage of cryptographic keys, which effectively allowed hackers to extract information encrypted with their help.
Experts said that they notified Samsung about the problem immediately after it was discovered. According to them, users of the aforementioned smartphones have nothing to fear, as the engineers of the Korean company have already released patches to fix the vulnerability. The first update was released in August 2021, the final one appeared in October of the same year.
In December, Samsung smartphone users complained about sound-related problems. The problem affected the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy A52 5G and other devices of the brand.
