The Russians were called unusual signs of surveillance of the smartphone

Evgeny Kashkin, Associate Professor of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems at RTU MIREA, called the Russians unusual signs of smartphone surveillance. He told the Prime agency that several signs point to surveillance.

“An important point in this case is the “requirement” of applications to use the camera, microphone, and access to data (images and videos) on the phone during installation. Of course, you can disagree with this paragraph during installation, but, most likely, then the application will not work at all or will not work correctly, ”Kashkin explained.

He clarified that for some applications these permissions are required to work. However, there are applications for which such requirements are absurd. The expert attributed the home Internet account status application to them. “Such permissions open, through an automated solution, access to your personal data, which can be aggregated in databases. The subsequent fate of such data can be very diverse, ”says the specialist.

In addition, the use of geolocation by applications can indicate total surveillance. A number of companies even track email messages, for example, when buying an electronic plane ticket. An uneven and sudden loss of battery power may indicate that malware is running in the background that can use the phone to carry out a DDOS attack. This is also indicated by the sudden overheating of the gadget at rest. In addition, the expert urged to pay attention to the sudden “freezes” of the smartphone or its shutdown without objective reasons.

Earlier, analyst Tatyana Lynova warned Russians about applications that steal personal data. Lynova noted that the presence of hidden malware can lead to the leakage of messages, photos, contacts, correspondence and banking data. Spyware most often asks for unreasonable permissions to access and manage various functions and files of the smartphone.
