Apple has refused to deprecate the popular 2014 iPhone. It is reported by MacRumors.
Journalists have learned that Apple has officially declared obsolete only the iPhone 6 Plus. The company explained that this is due to the fact that the phone went off the market five or more years ago. Also, Apple revealed the fate of the younger version of the outdated device – iPhone 6. The device will not be considered obsolete yet due to the fact that the device has been on sale for a longer period.
According to experts, the iPhone 6 will also be considered obsolete in one or two years. The smartphone was on official sale until 2018. Obsolete device status means that Apple Authorized Service Providers may not accept the device for service and repair if replacement parts are not available.
Introduced in the fall of 2014, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were the first smartphones from the company to support Apple Pay contactless payments. Also, the devices had an enlarged display diagonal – up to 4.7 and 5.5 inches. The base iPhone 6 had an IPS screen, a Home button with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, an Apple A8 chip, one gigabyte of RAM, and a single eight-megapixel camera.
In mid-January, Apple declared the 2012 MacBook Pro obsolete. The computer turned out to be the last device in the brand line equipped with a CD and DVD drive.
