Igor Bederov, an expert at the SafeNet engineering center of the National Technology Initiative, linked sanctions against Russia and a ban on direct product deliveries with a surge in fraudulent sales of smartphones. He stated this to RIA Novosti.
According to the expert, devices such as the iPhone will be the target of various scams, such as selling with an account that has not been deleted, with which the gadget can be blocked or tracked, as well as selling refurbished or fake smartphones at the price of the original ones.

Bederov noted that there will be an increase in the number of frauds related to the sale of phones of expensive brands. At the same time, the number of such crimes is constantly increasing, he added.
The expert pointed out that in such a situation, sales of domestic and Chinese smartphones will begin to grow. Devices from China, according to him, do not carry risks for the user, the only of them is the collection of data about the owner for advertising purposes.
Bederov recommended changing the operating system authorization password when handing in a gadget for repair, as well as storing all data in the cloud so as not to compromise them when sold or stolen.
