The very establishment of such a component has been known since February 2019, when the Minister of National Defense approved the “Concept for the organization and functioning of the Cyberspace Defense Forces”.
Then the process of creating a new kind began. Even the Command of the Cyberspace Defense Forces Component was formally established within the structures of the National Cyberspace Security Center.
Cyberspace Defense Army. What he does?
– WOCs are designed to conduct a full spectrum of activities in cyberspace – defense, reconnaissance and active offensive activities. Thanks to this, it is possible to ensure a higher level of security in this new operational domain – assures the ministry.
The establishment of the WOC is in line with the provisions of the NATO summit in Warsaw in 2016, when it was emphasized how important and its importance is in the event of hacker attacks or international conflicts.
February 8, 2022 is Safer Internet Day. But it will be some time until the Cyberspace Defense Forces become fully operational and take care of network security. The WOC is not able to achieve this until 2025.
