New toll system for A2 and A4. Instead of making it easier for drivers to get through, it caused problems

The barriers were dismantled on the toll sections of A2 Konin-Stryków and A4 Wrocław-Sośnica from December 1. Instead, drivers can pay for their fares using the e-TOLL system, which was supposed to increase the flow of traffic. However, the Electronic Toll Collection System does not work very well. An alternative is to pay for the ride at the gas station.

The A4 and A2 motorways with problems

Instead of smooth journeys, they experienced significant problems with toll payments on the A2 and A4 toll sections – People with older people cannot install the application at all, so they have to go to the station to pay for the ride. The situation of drivers who have managed to launch a payment program is also not very different. In their case, connection problems sometimes occur. Some people give up traveling on toll sections altogether to avoid messing with the application and stopping at stations.

This system is absolutely unfriendly to drivers. For many years it has not been possible to ask for a system that would cover all motorways

– says Adrian Furgalski from the team of economic advisors to TOR.

Toll motorways in Poland

Most sections of Polish motorways are free of charge. Over time, however, we will move away from it,

– We cannot afford to maintain a constant and endless state when we do not charge tolls on motorways – said Adamczyk, quoted by TVN after PAP.

More information from the country on

– Certainly it will not happen next year or in two years, but gradually the toll collection system will cover subsequent sections of motorways. The funds obtained in this way will flow to the National Road Fund and will be used by others, said the Minister of Infrastructure. He explained that “the fees are used to cover the considerable costs of maintaining the motorways.”
