Co-financing for the purchase of a set-top box. The government will pay even 100 zlotys. How to apply?

The Act on supporting households in bearing the costs related to changing the digital broadcasting standard was prepared by Minister Janusz Cieszyński. The existing DVB-T / MPEG-4 system will be replaced by the more effective DVB-T2 / HEVC. The new standard of terrestrial television is to be associated with a greater number of free television programs, in better picture and sound quality.

The government will pay extra to buy the decoder

Research carried out by the National Media Institute shows that in Poland as many as 2.27 million households are not adapted to reception.Therefore, they will need to adapt or change the current one.The government meets such people and grants funding for the purchase of a set-top box in the amount of PLN 100 . This will allow you to fully or partially cover the cost of purchasing a new device.

“The introduction of this solution is mandatory throughout the entire government wants to subsidize the purchase of a set-top box for a TV set for the poorest people, which will enable the reception of free digital terrestrial television in a new standard” – emphasized in the act.

How to submit a grant for a set-top box? Terrestrial television

One person from the household may submit an application for the benefit. When submitting the application, you will have to declare that without the subsidy it is not possible to change the standard of broadcasting a TV signal due to difficult financial situation. Benefits can be submitted electronically – using the gov.pl platform, as well as through employees

In response to the submitted application, the entitled person will receive a special code to the e-mail address provided in the application or in the form of a printout. The code will be redeemable in stationary and online stores as well as through online sales platforms.

Co-financing for the purchase of a set-top box. Until when?

– There will be one voucher per household. If someone has more than one TV set, they can probably afford to buy a set-top box. We assume that if these 2 million farms apply for the voucher, the amount that we will allocate to the vouchers will be approx. PLN 200 million. But if everyone applies for a voucher, then the amount of the aid can be five times as much. However, we believe that only those who need it will buy a set-top box –

The program will be implemented by the end of 2022. First, the connections will cover the following voivodeships: Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie and Wielkopolskie.
