Pegasus cost 33.4 million, but could not cope with 5G. Former agent: You had to buy an update

The Citizen Lab report showed that the first signs of use in Poland by a user with the pseudonym “ORZELBIALY” were recorded as early as 2018. The program became famous when the journalists of “Rzeczpospolita” established that the system had been used by the CBA to detain the former minister Sławomir Nowak. At the end of last year, it turned out that Krzysztof Brejza, a deputy from the Civic Platform, was also tapped.

Pegasus couldn’t handle 5G. “You had to buy an update”

The Supreme Audit Office showed in a press release that received PLN 25 million from the Ministry of Justice with funds from the Justice Fund. The documents also show that to these funds The CBA added PLN 8.4 million “own contribution”, which was allocated to “system functionality tests” and “training acceptance / final acceptance”.

In total, this gives a total of PLN 33.4 million. it follows that the amount allocated to Pegausus did not end there. All because the program could not cope with the 5G network. – After her entry, it turned out that Pegasus is not doing well. An update was needed – said Mariusz Gierszewski’s interlocutor.

– Are you saying that the expenditure of PLN 25 million on Pegasus, and with the implementation of about PLN 34 million, was not the last? the journalist inquired. – You had to buy an upgrade for 5G telephony – confirmed the former agent, who did not want to answer whether the additional money was obtained from the Justice Fund.

The agent also emphasized that some banks have such good firewalls that if they log into the account from a device infected with spyware, they will not let the client in. However, the last fragment of the conversation was particularly disturbing. The former service agent said that Poland has only one Pegasus, and the Israelis have sold about 2,700 such devices. This means that there are countries whose different services have several of them. How does this relate to our safety?
