Let’s start with the basic point. If you are considering buying now Surface Go 3, then stay away from the CPU model Intel Pentium Gold. It’s an inefficient system that will quickly become frustrating when combined with Windows 11.

I had the opportunity to test this setup for several weeks and I don’t remember this adventure very well.
An even “worse” version of this device was also available for sale – with only 4 GB of RAM and an eMMC (sic!) Disk with a capacity of only 64 GB. It tempts with a quite attractive price (PLN 1,999), but it heralds huge problems with performance.
Fortunately – in the end – I also found a model with a processor Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM i 128 GB SSD. and here the efficiency was much better. But is it good enough?

Surface Go 3 – APPEARANCE and SCREEN
Design has been a strong point of devices from the Microsoft Surface family for years. It is no different in the case of the Go 3. The computer housing is made of a magnesium alloy, and the platinum color gives it elegance and a touch of elegance. Surface Go 3 undoubtedly looks like premium equipment.
It is also compact. The device weighs just over half a kilogram and its dimensions are 245 x 175 x 8.3 mm. Thanks to this, Surface Go 3 will easily fit in a small backpack, and if we try very hard, even in a larger pocket of a jacket or coat.
Surface Go 3 also impresses with the screen. We find a display here PixelSense 10.5 “diagonal and resolution 1920 x 1280 (220 PPI). It is, of course, a touch screen (with stylus support) with a 3: 2 aspect ratio typical for Microsoft devices. The top of the display is covered with additional Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass, which protects it from scratches.
What can I write about image quality? As is usually the case with Surface devices, it is in a class of its own. The screen offers high brightness and contrast and a very good color reflection. Black is worse, but only compared to OLED matrices.

Surface Go 3 – SPECIFICATION AND PERFORMANCE
As I mentioned at the beginning, Surface Go 3 is available in several configurations, the only one that is really worth mentioning is the most powerful one that I had the opportunity to test. My copy was equipped with a processor 10th Generation Intel Core ™ i3-10100Y, 8 GB RAM (LPDDR3), and 128 GB SSD drive.
Such a set can easily handle the operation Windows 11 with basic tasks. When writing about basic tasks, I mean browsing the Internet, watching movies, working with the Office suite or (very basic) graphic processing.

About advanced photo / video editing or gaming (not counting retro titles), in the case of Surface Go 3, we can forget. And not only because of the weak graphic layout Intel UHD Graphics 615, but also a small screen diagonal.
Go 3 scored points for two additional connectors, which we usually do not find in devices of such dimensions. What I mean microSDXC card reader i nest 3.5 mm headphone. In addition, we find here one USB-3 port and a Surface Connect connector.

Microsoft’s laptop offers support for standards Bluetooth 5 i WiFi 6. It is a pity there was not enough room for LTE modulewhich should rather be found in such a mobile and compact device.
The battery disappointed me. Microsoft promises that Surface Go 3 will last up to 11 hours on a single charge. I do not know where this data is coming from, because I have never managed to get a better result than 5 hours – and with really economical use of the device.

If I had to look for uses for a device like Surface Go 3, apart from browsing the web, watching movies and working with the Office suite, I would also point to videoconferences, which have gained popularity due to the ongoing pandemic. This computer has a very decent 5MP webcam and two long-range studio microphones

Surface Go 3 – SUMMARY
I must admit that I have a problem to objectively evaluate Surface Go 3. On the one hand, this equipment captivates me with its design, screen and compact dimensions. On the other hand, I cannot forget about such problems as a poor battery or average (and in the case of the Pentium system, tragic) performance.
No i ta cena. The model with an Intel i3 processor, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD drive was priced at over PLN 3,000, and to this amount we also have to add PLN 459 for the Surface GO Type Cover keyboard, without which the Go 3 is an incomplete device. In total, it gives us almost PLN 4,000.
Even taking into account the current madness on the computer market, for the amount of PLN 3500-4000, we will buy a very decent ultrabook with a much stronger specification today.
