From year to year, the games are getting longer, which does not mean that it makes them more interesting. Their creators often stuff dozens of repetitive missions and hundreds of “collectibles” into their productions, only to be able to boast that the completion of a given title will take us several dozen or several hundred hours.
The last example of a game that went on almost forever is Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. In my case, it took more than 80 hours to get to the end credits in the Ubisoft studio production, and the last 20-30 hours was already a real ordeal.
Techland: It will take over 500 hours to fully complete Dying Light 2
In this context, it is not surprising that it was posted on Twitter on Monday entry by the creators of Dying Light 2 met with – to speak very delicately – cool reaction from the players.
To fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you will need at least 500 hours – it’s like going for a walk from Warsaw to Madrid!
– Techland studio praised.
It didn’t take long for a reaction to happen. The post was quickly inundated with hundreds of comments in which players expressed their dissatisfaction. Many of them threatened to give up buying the game, fearing that such a long production would not provide them with quality entertainment.
Why such a harsh reaction? It is worth remembering that the gaming industry is “aging” along with the gamers themselves. Many potential buyers of Dying Light 2 are 30-40 or even 50-year-olds who spend only a few hours a week on their console. For such people, the information about 500 hours necessary to fully complete the game is actually a deterrent.
In the end, Techland quickly realized he was a blunder. The studio from Wrocław posted another post on Twitter, explaining that it will take us much less time to complete the main story and all side missions.
It will take you 500 hours to “max” the game – to complete all quests, learn the endings, and explore every part of the world, but a regular player should complete the story and side quests in less than 100 hours, so don’t worry!
– wrote the game developers.
Dying Light 2 is a direct continuation of the first-person action game from 2015, in which we find ourselves in a post-apocalyptic world controlled by hordes of zombies. The action of the sequel takes place 15 years after the events of the first part. This time its place is the city of “The City”. In the game, we play the role of Aiden Caldwell, who is trying to discover his identity.
