Described a method of tracking with the “turned off” iPhone

ZecOps specialists tested a virus that allows you to record video from cameras of an Apple smartphone and monitor its owner. This was reported on the website of the organization.

Experts from a security company created the NoReboot program to study the mechanisms of jailbreaking iPhone. The virus utility gains constant access to the smartphone’s camera and microphone and can transfer data to another device. A distinctive feature of the program is the ability to simulate turning off the device.

Experts said that when activated, the program intercepts the control of the smartphone. When the user tries to turn off the phone with the NoReboot virus installed on it, the iPhone imitates this process. The utility shows a standard animation on the screen and then turns off the display. At the same time, the program continues to record video and sound.

The danger of NoReboot is also that no warning indicators appear on the screen during video recording. During normal operation with the camera on, a green dot appears at the top of the iPhone display. ZecOps experts concluded that smartphones can spy on their owner even with the screen turned off.

Earlier, ZecOps specialists created a Trojan that simulates the shutdown process of an Apple smartphone. When the user instructs the iPhone to turn off, the virus program imitates this process without actually turning off the phone.
