She was cheated twice on the same scam. She thought she was talking to American soldiers

Not a day goes by without the media in Poland informing about the next (unfortunately, most often successful) attempts of online fraud. Criminals double and triple, inventing new stories, which they then tell to unsuspecting people. Most often, however, they use the same methods over and over again.

Polish woman was deceived “into an American soldier”

One of the most popular methods that criminals have been using for a long time in Poland is the “American soldier” cheating (another common version is the “American actor” cheating). Criminals pose as overseas military, asking for money to be borrowed and assuring sincere friendship or love. They often say they got into serious trouble on missions abroad.

The newest example of such “costly love” A woman who trusted a newly met person on the Internet came to the officers in Lubuskie Province too much. Resident of the province Lubuskie, she met a man on the Internet who – as we read in the announcement – in the photo presented himself beautifully in the uniform of the American army.

She became friends with him, and this step by step gained her trust. He convinced the woman that he had to give someone all the money earned during the mission in order not to lose it. He claimed that since he trusted his interlocutor, he would send the money to her, and after completing the mission, he would come to collect her property.

There was only one problem. The man – as he claimed – needs funds “to pay for the shipment and customs” in order to be able to send the parcel with banknotes to Poland. The woman decided to help and lent the man a trifle of 60,000. zloty. Unfortunately, then contact with the “overseas soldier” quickly broke off.

The fraudster was supposed to help catch the fraudster. It didn’t help

When the woman realized that she had fallen victim to fraud, she decided to act. She started looking for a man on the Internet, where she found … another man who claimed to be an American soldier. The “military” honorably decided to help and claimed that he was able to catch the criminal.

He only asked for the transfer of 10 thousand. zlotys that were to be needed to take the necessary actions. He argued that he could not withdraw such an amount himself, because his bank account had just been blocked. Lubuszanka – not expecting another fraud – let him “help” herself.

To search for the first fraudster, she transferred another 10,000. zlotys. Then the contact with the other man also ceased, and the woman decided to report the matter to the police. Twice using the same method, she lost a total of 70 thousand. zlotys.

Officers from Lubusz advise to carefully verify people they meet on the Internet and to have limited trust in everyone. They also ask to be careful about any offers of allegedly quick earnings or mysterious inheritance, because – as they say – they receive notifications from people who have fallen victim to fraud almost every day.
