Financier Valishvili: Due to the payment by a smartphone for NFC, there is a risk of losing money from cards

The NFC technology involved in the payment of the smartphone is at the risk of theft of money from the owner’s bank cards. This was told by the associate professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance REU named after G. V. Plekhanov Mary Valishvili in an interview with the Prime Agency.

According to the expert, the attackers call the victims under the guise of an employee of the bank, who insists on installing new banking applications due to the fact that the old is blocked due to sanctions.

After the user comes a message in which the file downloading is located. However, the program is harmful software, she said.

Then the scammers ask to activate the mobile bank by applying the card to the rear panel of the smartphone with the NFC module. At this moment, the “linden” application makes a virtual copy of the card. With its help, hackers rent other people’s money at the bank, Valishvili emphasized.

Earlier it became known that scammers, pretending to be the employees of the dean’s office, began to call students and steal their accounts on the Public Service portal.
