During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the European premiere of Realme 14 Pro and Realme 14 Pro+smartphones took place. These are two “medium -sized”, which is supposed to stand out from the competition with a good price -quality ratio. I had the opportunity test the 14 Pro+ model Even before his official presentation and get to know his stronger, but also weaker sides. Here’s all that is worth knowing about this device.
On the plus side: original design …
Realme has already proved in the past that he is not afraid to experiment with the design of his smartphones. You can mention, for example, models from the popular GT series, which have always been characterized by an unusual style. Realme 14 Pro+ is also a certain experiment, but a slightly different kind.
The back of the smartphone in the Pearl White color variant are covered thermochromic fiber, which changes color under the influence of cold. As soon as the temperature drops below 16 degrees Celsius The color of the rear cover of the device goes from pearl white to blue. I must admit that this is quite an original solution, although it will work only for people who do not wear a smartphone in a case.
On the downside: … but only in one version of the device
While the pearly variant Realme 14 Pro+ shines (and literally), the model in gray (which came to me for testing) is unfortunately a “ugly duckling”. Instead of changing back color, we get a rear cover made of vegan suede here. This material is quite pleasant to the touch, but it gets dirty mercilessly, and after some time it simply rubs.
So if you face the choice of the Realme 14 Pro+color variant, this time the decision is very easy. Choose the Pearl White model and don’t even think about it anymore.
Plus: A great and very bright AMOLED display
Realme 14 Pro+ It has been equipped with 6.83-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1272 x 800 and pixel density at 450 ppi. There were high refresh rate (120 Hz) and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass, which protects the screen against scratches and damage.
As befits an organic panel, we have here in the package excellent contrast and deep black. What distinguishes the Realme smartphone from many other mid -range models is the high brightness of the display. In HBM mode (High Brightness Mode) is 1200 rivets. The peak brightness, in turn, is as many as 1,500 rivets.
On the downside: there is no speed demon
The heart of Realme 14 Pro+ is the system Qualcomm Snapdragon 7S Gen 3, which was made in the 4 nm process. This is definitely a medium -shelf processor, which in terms of performance loses not only with Qualcomm flagship systems, but also with such units as, for example, MediaTek Dimensity 8300.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is supported by graphics Mali-G720 and 8 or 12 GB of RAM. As for mass memory, we can choose a smartphone variant with 256 or 512 GB.
How does this specification translate into the speed of the device? In the Antutu Benchmark V10.4.5 test, the smartphone won as much as 835 886 points. The results in Geekbench tests are as follows:
- One core test: 1,175 points
- Test of many core: 3 177 points
- GPU system test: 3 375 points
Especially poorly Realme 14 Pro+ fell out in the GPU benchmark, where he scored only 3,375 points. For comparison, I tested recently POCO X7 PRO (it is cheaper than the Realme device), in the same test he scored as many as 11,096 points. Of course, the POCO model has a much better Dimensity 8400-Eultra processor and here you should see such a big difference in the scared results.
Does – after all – a fairly average processor negatively affects the comfort of everyday use of the smartphone? In my opinion no. This unit can easily cope with the support of Android 15 and the Realme UI 6.0 system overlay. However, she happens to catch “shortness” in demanding games, such as asphalt Legends Unite or Shadow Fight 4 Arena. So if you are looking for a device for mobile playing, in your place I would look for something with a stronger processor.
Plus: a camera with a periscope telephoto lens
The main camera Realme 14 Pro+ is a very versatile unit, which consists of three lenses:
- Main 50 MPf/1.8, 24mm (Wide), 1/1.56 “, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS
- 50 MP Persikope Telepholsf/2.7, 73mm, 1/1.95 “, 0.8µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x Optical
- 8 MP ultra -pitchedf/2.2, 16mm, 112 ° (Ultrawide), 1/4.0 “, 1.12µm
Of course, it deserves special attention here telephoto lens based on a recognized industry sensor Sony imx882which offers both optical image stabilization and three -time optical zoom, 6-fold stratless magnification and Digital zoom up to 120x. Although periscope systems are increasingly used by the manufacturer in flagship smartphones, it is still rare in “average”.
The quality of photos from main lens and lenses periscope It looks really good. And both in daytime conditions and in the mode Ultra Night. It may not be the level of the iPhone 16 Pro or the latest Samsung flagship, but the price shelf below PLN 3,000, the Realme 14 Pro+ camera definitely has something to boast about.
The ultra lens is unfortunately much worse here. He can lose details, especially in night conditions. He also copes well with color reproduction. Unfortunately, many producers still treat “eyelets” ultra -hemocial and realme is no exception here.
In promotional materials, the manufacturer also boasts a lot A triple flash (Magiclow Triple Flash). It not only enables the lighting of the photographed objects in more difficult conditions, but also a change in color temperature. In theory, this sounds interesting, in practice the lighting of the frames usually affects their final quality very negatively.
On a plus: solid battery ….
Realme 14 Pro+ has a battery about capacity 6000 mAhwhich translates into about two days of the device on one charge. Device We can charge wired with power to 80W. The battery will be filled half in about 25 minutes.
On the downside … but without wireless charging
Unfortunately, the tested smartphone does not support wireless charging. I think that in the case of equipment, which costs over PLN 2,000, this is an unacceptable situation today. Lack of induction must therefore have a negative impact on the final assessment of this smartphone.
VERDICT
Realme 14 Pro+ is a smartphone distinguished by an unusual design (but only in the Pearl White version), an excellent and bright AMOLED screen, a versatile camera and a solid battery. Snapdragon 7S is not a speed demon, but provides the device with sufficient performance. A shadow on the final assessment is the lack of wireless charging and a slightly too high price (PLN 2,299). If the manufacturer reduced it by PLN 300, it would be perfectly in a market niche.
