EU companies operate: On Monday (February 10) the initiative “EU AI Champions Initiative” was announced, associating 60 European companies among others Airbus, Heineken, Porsche, Spotify, Siemens and Deutsche Bank. “All determined to establish Europe with a world leader in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), accelerating the development and use of AI” – we read on the initiative website.
Great ambitions: “In the era of rapid technological progress and geopolitical changes, Europe is at a critical moment. Pressure for economic growth and competitiveness sharpened by the aging of the population and a decrease in productivity, undermines our social agreement. On this background AI offers unprecedented opportunities for economic progress and strategic autonomy. In as much as the global race for development and implementation is intensified, Europe must work definitelyto determine your role. What is the companies about? The initiative was created to facilitate the implementation of artificial intelligence in Europe. The companies involved in it want to cooperate with the European Commission and Member States in “creating a drastically simplified regulatory framework regarding artificial intelligence that unlock local innovations and global leadership, supporting existing efforts to launch a comprehensive AI strategy for Europe. “If this could be done, EUR 150 billion would be allocated to the development of artificial intelligence in Europe over the next 5 years.
Fast transition to action? The proposal of European companies was officially presented at a meeting with the participation of, among others President of France Emmanuel Macron, head of the European Commission Ursula van der Leyen and leaders of 15 countries belonging to the European Union. Immediately after it, the first discussions with European politicians are to take place.
