9to5Mac: iPhone 15 to be discontinued due to lack of AI support
Apple should remove the iPhone 15 from sale after the announcement of the iPhone 16 series. This is the conclusion reached by journalists from 9to5Mac.
According to the media authors, the iPhone 15 does not have 8 gigabytes of RAM and therefore does not support working with Apple Intelligence neural networks. At the same time, all new Apple smartphones will work with artificial intelligence (AI). In this regard, the 2023 models were predicted to quickly become obsolete and end production.
“The 15 Pro and Pro Max models support Apple Intelligence, while their non-Pro counterparts do not,” the journalists noted. According to them, Apple may remove the basic devices from sale immediately after the release of the new smartphones in the fall.
They also emphasized that the real “killer” of the iPhone 15 will be the iPhone SE, which is expected to be presented in early 2025. According to insider Mark Gurman, the smartphone will cost less than $500, but will receive support from Apple Intelligence.
In conclusion, the authors of 9to5Mac reminded that Apple smartphones usually remain relevant for several years after their release. In their opinion, with the iPhone 15, this trend will end.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Apple will introduce four smartphones in the fall – iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. All devices will receive an A18 chip and 8 gigabytes of RAM, which is necessary for working with AI
