The friendship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is blossoming before our eyes. Although a few years ago the head of Tesla Motors and SpaceX was sending the American politician into retirement, now he has not only officially supported him in the upcoming presidential elections (although not to the tune of $45 million per month, as the American media reported earlier).
A few days ago, both gentlemen also had a nice conversation (mistakenly called an interview) on the X platform, during which they did not spare compliments. – You are amazing, Elon. You do a great job. You inspire – said Trump. – You will find a way to prosperity. Kamala (Harris – ed.) the opposite – Musk returned the favor.
Trump did not stop at compliments, however. The Republican candidate announced that if he wins this year’s presidential election, he will offer Elon Musk a position as an advisor in his administration, “if only he accepts.”
Musk to Trump: ‘I am ready to serve’
Elon Musk’s response was not long in coming. “I am ready to serve,” reads the content of a post published Tuesday on the controversial billionaire’s platform X. The post was accompanied by an AI-generated photo. It shows Musk standing at a lectern with the words DOGE – Department of Government Efficency.
This is a reference to both the role that Musk would like to play in Donald Trump’s government (advisor on government efficiency) and the name of the popular cryptocurrency dogecoin, which Elon Musk once promoted very strongly. It is worth recalling that Elon Musk had previously offered his services to Trump. The government efficiency commission promoted by him would, in theory, oversee the efficiency of public spending.
Interestingly, in the interview with Reuters, Trump also said something that could potentially become a bone of contention between him and Musk. The Republican candidate announced that after a potential victory in the presidential election, he would consider eliminating the $7,500 tax credit for new electric vehicles. Such a decision would certainly hit Tesla Motors’ business. “Tax credits and tax incentives are generally not a good thing,” Trump said.
