BGR: iPhone to Get New Selfie Camera in 2025 for First Time in Years
Apple’s smartphone, scheduled for 2025, will come out with an improved front camera, BGR reports.
Media journalists cited a report by Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, who said the iPhone 17 series will feature a more functional 24-megapixel selfie camera based on six plastic lenses.
Pu called this upgrade long-awaited for Apple users. The last time Apple updated the front camera in the iPhone 11 line of phones was in 2019 – a few years ago, the 7-megapixel camera was replaced by a 12-megapixel one. Jeff Pu also said that the iPhone 15 has a front camera with five lenses, and the iPhone 16 will get six lenses.
BGR journalists recalled that Apple has repeatedly noted that camera quality does not directly depend on the number of megapixels. However, the new 24-megapixel sensor should significantly improve the capabilities of the iPhone’s front camera.
In addition, Jeff Pu said that in 2025, Apple smartphones will come with four screen sizes – 6.1, 6.3, 6.6 and 6.9 inches.
In early August, analyst Jeff Pu said that Apple had delayed the release of its first foldable tablet, which was scheduled for 2025. The start of production of the device was planned for 2026.
