the act voted on July 12 will affect several revolutionary changes in telephone and internet contracts. “The new Electronic Communications Law (EPL) introduces regulations that are to improve the situation of consumers in relations with telecommunications companies,” the ministry reports.
The bill has been passed. Consumers will be able to feel the changes
– This is an important day, the telecommunications market received its constitution today. This is good news for every citizen, because we are introducing many important changes that will positively affect our lives in the context of using technology – commented Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs MichaĆ Gramatyka.
First of all, the new law states that a person entering into a telephone or internet contract is to receive a short and precise summary of its most important terms. Among other things, it will contain all ordered services, due fees and the duration of the contract. Consumers are also to receive information on the best tariffs and services of a given company that they will actually be able to use.
Importantly, the act will also limit the amount of penalties for customers who terminate contracts early. In many cases, they are higher than the previously agreed obligations.
The third change is to determine the price of a transfer with a refund of unused prepaid funds. Previously, operators determined this independently, and after the introduction of the new law, the price will not be able to exceed PLN 1. This applies to situations in which a customer changes the operator or terminates the contract on a prepaid contract, and there are some funds left on their account. They must then always be returned.
