Polish job portal No Fluff Jobs reports that the number of offers on the IT market in the past half-year has fallen by 16.35% compared to the end of last year. “Compared to the first half of 2023, a decrease of 23.31% can be seen. The deterioration in the industry has been visible for about a year, when the number of applications sent in response to one advertisement began to increase significantly,” it said in a press release.
IT Industry Problems. Stable Only in One Specialization
Despite the turmoil on the labor market, one of the IT specializations stands out for its stable situation. We are talking about Backend, whose specialists in the first half of 2024, just like in 2023, were the most sought-after employees on the No Fluff Jobs portal. The median salary offered in Backend also recorded one of the largest increases in the industry.
“The next places in terms of the number of ads in the past half-year were occupied by the Fullstack, Data & BI, Devops and Testing specializations. The Frontend specialization, which was in fifth place in the first half of 2023, has dropped off the list of the most sought-after specializations,” No Fluff Jobs reported.
Security and Mobile specializations are better paid, hybrid work is becoming more popular
It turns out that the highest salaries in IT can be expected in the Architecture specialization. They range from PLN 25.2 thousand to PLN 32.5 thousand net on a B2B contract and from PLN 20 thousand to PLN 25 thousand gross on an employment contract. Specializations related to security and mobile technologies are also better paid this year. “The increase in salaries offered in them concerns primarily the median of the lower ranges for employment on an employment contract – by 20 percent in the Security category and by as much as 41.67 percent in the Mobile category” – the release reads further.
Interestingly, there was also a decrease in the number of job offers offering the possibility of remote work. “Compared to the first half of 2023, the percentage of offers with remote work fell by almost 9 percentage points, although they still constitute almost half of all ads. At the same time, the popularity of hybrid work increased by 8.5 percentage points, approaching 25% of all ads,” No Fluff Jobs reported. Only the percentage of stationary job offers remains stable at around 25%.
