IDC: Global AI Smartphone Shipments to Exceed 900 Million by 2028
The category of smartphones with artificial intelligence (AI) support has been named the fastest growing category in the mobile device market, according to a blog post by the International Data Corporation (IDC).
According to the company’s experts, the compound annual growth rate of AI smartphone shipments will be 78.4 percent in 2023-2028. Analysts predicted that 912 million such devices will be shipped to the market in the next four years. For comparison, there were 51 million such devices in 2023.
The report says that AI in phones will be used in work, education, and will also be in demand for health and entertainment functions. “The rise of the Gen AI smartphone segment will be the next technological revolution,” the authors of the report noted.
