The installation of so-called black boxes in cars is to facilitate the explanation of the causes of road accidents. The recorders will record data for five seconds before and after a road incident. The spokesman for the Institute of Motor Transport, Mikołaj Krupiński, said that the recorders will record a lot of necessary data.
These will include: longitudinal and lateral acceleration, vehicle rotation, brake pressure, steering angle, engine speed, gearbox mode, throttle opening or closing, road speed, and torque. The operation of safety systems such as airbags, seat belts, and their pretensioners will also be recorded by the devices.

Representatives of the Motor Transport Institute emphasize that thanks to the recorders it will be possible to introduce more effective preventive measures, which will contribute to reducing the number of road accidents and improving the safety of all road users.
