Apple Corporation has declared a number of gadgets obsolete. This is reported by the publication MacRunors.
The American company added the iPhone X, released in 2017, to the list of obsolete devices. This is the first Apple phone to have a frameless display and the so-called “monobrow” – a screen cutout for a biometric sensor. Apple considers devices obsolete if seven or more years have passed since they stopped being sold.
The list of vintage gadgets includes the first model of wireless headphones AirPods, which were released in 2016. Media journalists recalled that the W1 chip was specially developed for the headset. Also recognized as an outdated device is HomePod, the first smart speaker from Apple, which was announced in 2017.
In conclusion, the authors of the publication noted that since the gadgets were recognized as obsolete, Apple and its official representatives have the right not to provide service for the devices. However, the company’s service centers can repair rare devices if spare parts are available.
In early June, Apple Corporation declared the iPhone 5s, released in 2013, obsolete. This device turned out to be the brand’s first smartphone to receive the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
