Honor has added deepfake detection functions using AI
Smartphones from the Chinese brand Honor will add artificial intelligence (AI) functions that will allow them to detect fakes. Digital Trends reports this.
During the MWC Shanghai 2024 conference, company representatives spoke about new functions that will appear on the brand’s devices. AI Deepfake Detection technology will analyze the picture during video calls and pay attention to details that are invisible to the eye.
According to experts, it will make it possible to identify deepfake – a method of deception based on changing a voice or video using AI. So, the system pays attention to the subscriber’s eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and so on. If the AI determines that the image or sound is tampered with, a warning will appear on the screen.
Another AI Defocus Eye Protection feature will combat myopia. Using cameras, the system will track the position of the user’s eyes and blur the picture in those areas of the screen where the gaze is not directed. According to experts, this will reduce the likelihood of myopia.
Apple previously explained why Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence (AI) functions will only be available on new brand devices. The company said that AI is very demanding of computing resources, which only new processors can provide.
