GT is one of the most interesting series of devices from a Chinese manufacturer. On the one hand, these smartphones are supposed to offer the functions of the most popular flagships of competing brands, and on the other – to beat them at a lower price. The latest realme GT 6 also wants to follow the path of its predecessors.
I got this smartphone before its official premiere. I had the opportunity to take a closer look at it, although – I freely admit – I didn’t have time to test it as thoroughly as I would have liked. Therefore, treat the following text not as a review in the strict sense, but as “in-depth first impressions”. Here are 6 things worth knowing about the “flagship killer”.

1. Minimalist without a protruding camera island
The design of realme GT 6 itself indicates that we are dealing with a premium device. The smartphone is equipped with a large 6.78-inch screen with rounded edges that covers almost the entire front.
The GT 6’s glass back stands out even more, because realme – contrary to popular fashion – has abandoned the classic convex camera island. The lenses protrude directly from the device housing, and the completely flat mirror “island” only serves as a decoration.

I must admit that I was afraid that the back of the smartphone covered with shiny glass would be a real magnet for fingerprints. And my fears were confirmed. Fingerprints appear very often, which can be irritating. It’s a pity that the manufacturer didn’t decide to use a matte finish here.
It is also a bit surprising that the equipment that wants to compete with the best flagships on the market does not have the IP68 waterproof standard. Here we find “only” IP65, which means that realme GT 6 will cope with possible splashes.

2. The screen is shockingly bright
The display used in the GT 6 model is an LTPO AMOLED panel. We are dealing with an organic matrix that operates with a variable refresh rate in the range of 1-120 Hz. The screen operates at a resolution of 1264 × 275, with a pixel density of approximately 450 ppi.
As befits an organic matrix, we can count on infinite contrast, deep black and saturated colors. The real game changer, however, is the brightness of this panel. Already in HBM (High Brightness Mode) it is 1,600 nits, which is still an excellent result. The peak brightness, however, reaches a much, much higher value, as much as 6000 nits (!)

Realme boasts that we are dealing here with the brightest screen in the history of smartphones. And I think there’s something to it, because I don’t remember ever testing a device whose display would perform so well in full sunlight.
Another highlight of realme GT 6 is 8T LTPO technology, which optimizes power consumption by lowering the refresh rate for static content and increasing it for smoother images in fast scenes – for example when playing games.

Smartphone movie buffs and mobile game enthusiasts will also be happy to know that realme GT 6 supports HDR and Pro-XDR technologies. The former offers a wider range of colors and brightness levels, while the latter – deeper blacks and more vivid colors.
Another novelty that realme boasts is the PWM 2160 Hz dimming technology, which reduces eye fatigue, especially in low light conditions. This feature also adjusts screen settings to suit usage patterns and lighting conditions.

3. Flagship-worthy performance
The heart of the GT 6 model is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a “slimmed” variant of one of the fastest mobile systems on the market. According to official data, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 provides a 20 percent increase in CPU performance and a 15 percent increase in GPU performance compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
We also have 16 GB RAM (LPDDR5X) and 512 GB memory for user data (UFS 4.0). Unfortunately, the smartphone does not support external memory cards.

In the AnTuTu test, realme GT 6 scored over 1,539,160 points, which is a very decent result, although obviously not as good as in the case of flagships with the “full-fledged” Snapdragon 8 Gen3. The difference in performance between both systems is approximately 25 percent. 8s also does not allow 8K video recording.
However, it is neither Realme GT 6 is definitely a very efficient device that can handle any task we throw at it without any problems. Android 14 runs very smoothly, and even the most demanding games do not experience any lag.
Realme GT 6 also has all the necessary connectivity modules. There is also Wi-Fi 6, NFC with 360-degree technology (to increase the NFC range), Bluetooth 5.4 and Dual Band GPS L1 + L5.

4. Long-lasting battery and no wireless charging
The large battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh can also be impressive, as it will provide two days of operation of the device with a moderate load on a single charge. And speaking of charging, we cannot fail to mention the 120 SUPERVOOC technology, thanks to which we can charge the phone from 0 to 50 percent in just 10 minutes, and from 0 to 100 percent – in about half an hour.
It’s a pity that this is another realme smartphone that does not support inductive charging. Personally, I attach great importance to this aspect. I very often use the wireless charger that is on my desk and I believe that every smartphone costing over PLN 2,500 should support this technology.

5. Camera with great night mode
The main camera has a Sony LYT-808 matrix with a size of 1/1.95 inch, brightness f/1.9 and a resolution of 50 Mpix. In addition, there is also a 50 Mpix telephoto lens (f/2.0, Samsung ISOCELL JN5 matrix) with double optical zoom and an additional ultra-wide-angle lens with an 8 MP matrix (f/2.2).
The front camera is a wide-angle lens with a 32 MP matrix (f/2.5). Realme GT 6 can record video in a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 frames per second.

As for the main lens, the photos look very good. They are sharp, rich in detail, and the colors do not deceive us. In the case of the ultra eye, unfortunately, you can already feel the “budget”. It sometimes loses focus and artifacts appear in photos. I’m glad that the GT 6 model has a telephoto lens, but I feel a bit dissatisfied with it. I must admit that I was counting on a 5x or at least 3x optical zoom.

6. Great smartphone, but not a “flagship killer”
Realme GT 6 is a solid smartphone that has an excellent and very bright AMOLED display, solid performance, a long-lasting battery and a quite versatile camera. However, the manufacturer decided to make several compromises, which makes it difficult for me to confidently call this device a “flagship killer”. This includes, among others: o no IP68 standard, no inductive charging, average ultra lens and no greater optical zoom.
However, this does not change the fact that we are dealing here with a worthy successor to the GT 5 model. The new realme smartphone is available for sale in Poland from June 20. As part of the promotion, which will last until July 3, the device will be offered at the following prices:
- 12+256 GB – PLN 3,199 (cashback of PLN 500 + free charger)
- 16+512 GB – PLN 3,499 (cashback of PLN 500 + free charger).
