ITHome: a computer mouse with a supercapacitor can last thousands of years

iRocks has released a computer mouse that does not require a power connection or battery. This was reported by the Chinese publication ITHome.

The M31R Plus device was presented at the Computex 2024 exhibition, which takes place in Taiwan’s Taipei. The computer accessory does not have a wire or battery – the device runs on energy generated by a supercapacitor. Quick charging of the mouse takes three minutes, normal charging takes five minutes. On a full charge, the device can work for up to seven days.

The developers of the device said that the supercapacitor is designed for 100 thousand charge-discharge cycles. So, in theory, the M31R Plus could last for thousands of years.

The device has a plastic case, a PAW3395 sensor with a resolution of up to 26 thousand dots per inch, the keys are designed for 80 million keystrokes, and the weight of the accessory is 66 grams. iRocks did not say how much the “eternal” mouse will cost and when it will go on sale.

At the end of May, Machdyne introduced a flash drive designed for long-term data storage. It has a capacity of only 8 kilobytes, but the data on a flash drive can be stored for 200 years.
