9to5Mac: Apple’s AI will work on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices
The minimum requirements for artificial intelligence (AI) to work on Apple smartphones have become known. This was reported by 9to5Mac.
Journalists cited a report from insider Mark Gurman, who said that the AI expected in iOS 18 will not work on older iPhones. Most likely, to fully use AI services you will need an A17 Pro or a newer processor. A similar chip is installed in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
On less powerful or older smartphones – for example, the iPhone 15 and other devices – some of the AI functions will be available. “The minimum requirements are likely partly the result of marketing segmentation of products, with Apple increasing the attractiveness of higher-end models,” the publication noted.
It is also believed that the AI will most likely require at least 8 gigabytes of RAM for full operation. Most likely, Apple’s chatbot or other similar services will run on computers based on the M1 processor and newer chips.
In mid-May, it became known that Apple had agreed with the startup OpenAI to implement ChatGPT in iOS. Thus, AI functions should appear on the brand’s smartphones in the fall, along with the release of iOS 18.
