Specialists from the Canalys agency spoke about the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in smartphones. This was reported by GizmoChina.

According to the report, at the beginning of 2024, 16 percent of all smartphones launched on the market will have some AI capabilities. According to experts, this figure will grow at a high rate – up to 28 percent in 2025 and up to 38 percent in 2026. Canalys believes that by 2028 every second phone will be able to work with AI—54 percent of such devices will be.

The material states that the introduction of AI functions in half of the smartphones on the market is due to user interest in expanding the capabilities of devices. First of all, AI support will be added to flagship devices, as there are performance limitations. Over time, chatbots and other services will be available in inexpensive devices.

According to Canalys analysts, the potential of gadgets with support for generative AI opens up a new era of sorts for the smartphone industry. Manufacturers will not only create devices that support new technologies, but also launch special chips and AI models.

In early May, Bloomberg sources said that Apple intends to introduce the functions of the popular ChatGPT chatbot into the iPhone and other devices. The corporation has already signed an agreement with OpenAI.
